You Are Doing It!

I noticed something recently. There are a lot of people looking for the secret to escaping the proverbial "rat race." They look everywhere but can never find it. They have tried lots of tips and tricks that they've found from reading about other people's experiences, but they haven't escaped yet. They think: "I must be missing something!" or "I can't do this! It's too hard!" ... Well, the thing is you are doing it! You are succeeding right now!

I wrote recently about some misleading personal success stories. A lot of people find these discouraging when they are planning their escape. When they don't achieve overnight success they assume they must be doing something wrong. Well, they aren't. You aren't.

Success Takes Time

Although some people can realize success and early retirement over night, it does not happen like that for most of us. Most of us need to work away at it over a long time before we really start to get anywhere. Most of us don't pick investments that go through the roof. Most of us don't find success all at once like that. For most of us, success comes slowly over time, with one small victory following another until eventually we've escaped.

You Are Successful, Really

Try not to get distracted by awesome success stories. Realize that you are much more likely to escape by making small changes that will pay off in the long run. Those little things you have been doing are already paying off. If you have started to pay down your credit card debt, you are being successful. If you are have started limiting some unnecessary expenses, you are being successful. If you have started saving some money regularly ... that's right, you are being successful. Every little thing counts; it really does.

Just remember to take action. Don't get paralyzed looking for the secret to success ... take what you know and act on it. If you start reducing your debt, start limiting your expenses and start saving some money you will start to notice your success. You'll have more money at the end of the month. Your savings will grow. You will escape.

The simplicity and honesty

The simplicity and honesty of this post, as well as many of your others, is surprising and inspiring to me. I am used to reading blogs like johnchow.com and shoemoney.com that always talk about making big money in little time. I like the freshness that you offer in such a saturated field of making money/getting out of debt blogs and sites. Your blog has been bookmarked!! Keep it up.
